Community Programs
Students at The Point CDC, Bronx
Community outreach is a pillar of Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana's mission. We bring high-quality performing arts to disadvantaged youth and low-income communities who might have little other exposure to such experiences.
Flamenco, which is creative, expressive and inherently a multicultural art form, is an effective method for teaching life skills to youth of all cultures and economic situations. Our programs include:
- After-school Residencies
- Lecture/Demonstrations
- Family Workshops
- Student performances
- Giving back to the community
Students at Haysville Elementary, NC
Project Olé Community Residencies have been presented for several years at Casita Maria Community Center and The Point CDC, both located in the Bronx, NY.
Our Community Residencies emphasize giving back to the community. After studying the dance, music and culture of flamenco with their Teaching Artist, our students perform for local senior centers and younger children, sharing what they've learned with others. Our Point and Casita Maria students have performed at:
- The Pio Mendez Senior Center
- The Bronx Day Parade
- The Fish Parade
- Family workshops
These programs are made possible with funding from:
- New York State Council on the Arts
- New York City Department of Cultural Affairs
- New York City Department of Youth and Community Development
- JPMorgan Chase
